We End The 2010 Season Ranked #20 Where We Began, Another Surprise & The Poem I Wrote You At The End Of Last Season

What an awesome surprise which Mrs Villari first informed me about yesterday. We end the year in the Courier Post Boys Tennis top 20. We'll end the year there without a doubt. This is another great motivating factor for our preparations for next year. See also the unlined portions of the article below.

This short piece in the Courier 4/2009 describes what the Pennsville team was doing to improve their team for that season. They finished that 2009 campaign with about the same ranking we will this year. Tomorrow they play for a sectional title, which they will undoubtedly win. It is quite obvious to draw the comparisons between the two of our programs. Where such work they put in last year lead them to this year, and all the joy and trophy that they are less than 24 hours away from.

See you all tomorrow in the same classroom, for a very short meeting that starts at 240 and ends at no latter than 3. We will have a team vote on our year end awards to be handed out at the June 9th Spring Sport Banquet. Enjoy my poem below that I wrote at the end of last year's season and sent to you in one of my FYI emails.

As we come to our close
and our end time is near
I wish all of you who strived to be better
the hope for improvement
in the off year

for a 2nd serve with a bit of strength
is something you all need
and the grip change we spoke of
must be practiced the SAME

But practice is the word
as the racquet is like
the instrument you might play
you need to remember it
so your skill set may stay

if it goes in the closet
your skill will surely rot away,

as you know
I've been here
and never
let proper technique go astray

Remember those who came before you
and heard my voice in their dreams
"READY POSITION"
I Say
our knees at a bend
where our eyes stand still

and where we must begin
for the foundation we built
will only be as strong
as where we begin

Sincerely
Coach
